A quick hug and “love you’s” as the kids blow past to the approaching bus. A moment in the eye of the storm, then work, errands, “what’s for dinner” and carpool all evening. A tornado has blown into my life. I saw it coming, heard it coming and even tried to prepare for it. I’m holding on, but it’s pretty windy in here.
September hits like a whirlwind. But it doesn’t have to be a full blown tornado. How we approach busy seasons of our lives makes a huge difference. Do we prepare and stand firm in God’s plan? Or do we just hold on and try not to get blown away?
Having lived tornado seasons of life before, I have been prepared and tried just holding on. My grip is not that strong. At some point, I get blown away and so do my people. Take out dinners, frayed nerves and things missed stresses everyone. It is not how I want to live.
This fall is going to be different! Understanding it’s going to be busy, I am saying no to unnecessary things that don’t fit with my plan to be organized, present and focused on what’s important. It’s difficult. Interruptions, family wants and needs pull daily and blown in unexpectantly. Nonetheless, I am determined to be who God wants me to be; not a stressed out, unhealthy version of my best self.
Thus, I’m coordinating blog posts here and at my MemoryMinders blog this fall to keep us all focused on what’s important-living our best life. God has created each of us with a unique body, mind and soul for who He intended us to be. When we go through the motions of life without paying attention to what God wants for us, we are missing the big picture of our lives.
God’s plan will always be better than mine. Often it will be more difficult or take me out of my comfort zone. When I follow my own path, I stumble, get stressed, and feel unfulfilled. But when I follow His lead, life is transforming.
So here’s the plan:

Let’s pay attention to our health and wellness this fall. Whether body, mind or soul, it’s worth the effort to dig in, think and pray on what God’s plan is for each of us. I am positive His best plan for me is not to be chained to my to-do list. It’s to stand firm and not get blown away by busyness in order to truly understand and execute His unique plan for me.
Won’t you join me?
Here’s today’s thoughtful tip-stand firm by starting your day with God. No matter if its 5 minutes or 30, read your Bible. Ask God to guide you to the verse He has for you today. It will be the calm before life’s storms with His Word to guide you. There are many Bible websites & apps that will send you a verse each day or the First 5 app from Proverbs 31 leads you through 5 chapters a week. Just open your Bible and ask God to lead you-He will.
Let’s stand firm and be healthy this fall in soul, mind and body. We’ll look for His lead and follow His footprints together!
Joyful are people of integrity, who follow the instructions of the Lord. 2 Joyful are those who obey his laws and search for him with all their hearts. ~Psalm 119:1-2
