Four Steps to Live our Faith Daily

He is Risen! He is risen indeed, hallelujah! In the post Easter glow of celebrating Jesus’ resurrection, we may wonder how to live on earth while awaiting heaven one day. I believe the answer is to live our faith daily, continuing the salvation celebration and sharing our joy with those around us. No matter where we are on our walk with Jesus, there are basically four steps to live our faith daily.

Our souls are saved and our place in heaven is secure by the grace of God and Jesus’ death and resurrection. That is the best news ever! Yet so often we get caught up in the minutiae of life and don’t always reflect this wonderful news in our lives. So, while we are still energized by the glory of Easter, let’s break down these four steps to live our faith daily:

Worship and Praise

Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer, always be ready to explain it. ~1 Peter 3:15 NLT

We begin with how the week did-in Worship and Praise to God and Savior! Acknowledging how Jesus saved us in worship and praise is the first step to honoring God and living our faith. So not just on Easter, or Sundays, but everyday, let’s worship and praise our Savior in our thoughts, words, and actions.

This can be as simple as having worship and praise music playing in the house or car. It can be taking a few moments each morning to acknowledge, worship and praise our Creator, Redeemer, and Friend. Or offer a word of worship and praise along with thanks before each meal. However we do it, let’s continue the celebration of our Risen Savior to keep it in our minds daily.

Study the Bible

For the Lord grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding. Proverbs 2:6     If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. ~James 1:5

In order to truly grow and live our faith daily, the next step is continue to learn more and we do that by studying God’s Word at the source-the Bible. Whether alone or in a group, it’s important to not just read devotions and other people’s thoughts on the Bible, but read the actual Bible ourselves. We then can learn, grow, and understand for ourselves how God is speaking to each of us through His Word.

There are multiple ways to read the Bible. Start at the beginning, read specific parts/books at a time, use a guided plan, or simple open it and start reading. One helpful way I found in a difficult season was to search specific words in the concordance in the back of the Bible. I then studied those verses/sections and expanded my learning and reading from there. However it works best, explore and study the Bible and experience God speaking to you.

Share the Good News

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ~Matthew 28:19-20

Jesus gave us instructions right before He ascended to heaven to prepare a place for us. We are to spread the Good News of His redeeming work on the cross! Our job here on earth is to tell others about Jesus so they too can be saved. But that’s often easier said than done.

An easy way to begin is to live and love with such joy in our lives that others notice and ask us about it. (see verse from step 1). Another way would be via social media sharing or inviting others to join us at church. But the best way is to simply tell others about how Jesus has changed our lives. By sharing our personal stories, others become interested and want to learn more-a great place to begin.

Serve Others

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” ~Matthew 20:28 NLT

Living our faith daily means we see and serve others. As Jesus says, He didn’t come to be served, but to serve others and so should we. Our actions, while not needed for salvation, are instead a way of living out our salvation here on earth. Serving others can be manifested from inside our own homes to the ends of the earth.

Starting small is always best so let’s think of ways to serve those we love in our homes and communities first. Then, expand from there as we grow more comfortable. Soon, we’ll be serving others in many places and capacities as we live our faith daily!

Let’s continue to bask in the glow of Easter’s celebration, but remember these four steps to live our faith daily. It will not only continue the joy for us but spread God’s love to all those around us.
